I'm building the GIS planning software that prepares cities for the coming decades of the 21st century. Urban heat is one of the fastest-growing challenges cities face and it will only become more critical. friGIS is the vision of truly data-driven urban planning. When it comes to heat adaptation measures, there is enormous room for error: blocked airflow corridors, misallocated budgets, wrong plant species. Most planning firms are simply not equipped to navigate these complexities and the results of urban greening efforts remain largely unquantifiable. friGIS changes that. It plans and simulates urban heat adaptation measures with precision and depth, turning guesswork into evidence-based decisions. I'm an engineering student originally from the Rhineland, with a background in social work. That combination is exactly why I'm drawn to technology as a lever for solving human problems and why I believe the livability of our cities is worth building for.
